The International and Super Eagle of Nigeria, Ogenyi Onazi was attack on Monday, 12th of September 2016 at his residence in Jos.
Just like Nigerian Comedian Basket Mouth, popular footballer Ogenyi Onazi has also being visited by armed robbers.
The Nigeria Police Force has commenced investigation into the robbery incident that occurred at the Jos home of Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi on Monday.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Command, ASP Terna Tyopev.
He said, “The Divisional Crime Officer personally led detectives to the house and the area is now calm. We have commenced investigation into the matter.”
Armed robbers had on Monday attacked the Jos home of Onazi. The robbers, who were four in number, took away several valuable items including a white Toyota Highlander and an undisclosed amount of cash. They also beat up Onazi’s father.
The footballer, who on Tuesday spoke to a close friend in Nigeria from his base in Turkey, disclosed that the robbers pretended to be courier men with a letter to be delivered to his father.
He said, “Those robbers came, pretending they were there to deliver a letter to my dad at about 1.40pm on Monday. But as soon as he collected their fake letter and asked where it was coming from, they swooped on him, tied his hands, beat him up, and inflicted machete cuts on him.
“They told him this is the first in a series of attacks that they would launch on our house and that I (Onazi) will be their target the next time.
“Those guys took their time to take some valuable materials including a car and some cash but I am thankful to God they didn’t do more than that.”
Onazi’s dad has been discharged from hospital, where he was treated.
