Niger State Commissioner for Water Resources and Local Government Hon. Muhammed Musa has confirmed that the emergence of the APC guber candidate, Umar Bago will be in the just concluded 2023 state and Assemblies elections, will be a confirmation of positive generational change.
Speaking to Journalists shortly after exercising his civic rights by voting for his party, Musa emphasized on the good qualities of Bago and expressed great optimism that the state was set for exponential economic and infrastructural development.
“Well to be selfish. I am a member of APC. And I voted for my party in the national election and then the state of course I did that and I believe my candidate best to qualify for the job is a kind of continuing continuation of the foundation laid by His Excellency Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello. The party, made a choice of Hon. Umaru Bago to take up after him. We have evidence of his services as honorable member as a representative of Chanchaga and for the first time to have a member serve four times. He had that privilege and you know how educated and civilized his person is. So that’s a testimony and he has a dedication to the knowledge of what Niger State is and he has reiterated the dream he has for the state, especially in the areas of infrastructure.”
“Well, it started from the days of the primaries of my party. Rt. Hon. Umar Bago was the youngest among the contestants. It actually reflects the generational change from the older to the youths and he was a candidate who was like, standing alone. So again, that has changed and the hope and the crowd he pulls represent the expectation of what people feel if he emerges as the governor. So, I believe If god wishes, we’re going to witness change, real change because of the generational change. And I’m happy to say that Niger State as far as 2023 elections is concerned, is ready to experience that change.” Musa said.
On the entire process of the elections and the general conduct, the articulate commissioner who had served in various ministries in the state within the outgoing administrative tenure to include commissioner of works, gave a satisfactory nod over the state and Assembly elections while also attributing the peaceful process to the good and sound heritage of the people of the state.
“For me, so far, so good. And the reason is this process started last three weeks, and we had a very peaceful election. And we hope today’s event will replicate the last three weeks activity but the most important thing is that people had the freedom to make their choice for leadership for the next four years.”
“Is about the tradition and heritage of Niger State, the state comprises different kinds of tribes, religious backgrounds, before now, we have been known to be the most peaceful state in the nation. If not for the challenges of the insecurity that affect the nation. And we’re proud of that. So, it’s not about the party. It’s about the people. And that’s what the peaceful nature of this election represents.”
Honorable Mohammed Musa, is the Commissioner of Water resources in Niger State and he doubles as the Commissioner for Local Government. He has served in over seven ministries as Commissioner under the leadership of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello. A clearly humane and peace-loving individual who adores peace and humanity, he despite his many years of service dreams of a quiet people-oriented life after service. He hopes the new administration will shop for other hands to steer ship of the state.
“Well, I had a privilege to serve as an aide to the incumbent governor as a commissioner; I served in more than seven ministries. I love politics, but I don’t like the issue of intensive contests. To have a privilege of serving for eight years for me is enough. If need be and I’m pressured that I will have to serve again, that will be decided by my interest but for me, I think I’ve done enough and its high time somebody takes over.” Musa revealed
