The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has announced the death of one of its members, Ms Deborah Ohamara, a presenter in Nigerian Info, who died in a ghastly motor accident Monday after spending two days in the hospital.
In a statement released Tuesday in Abuja, jointly signed by Comrade, Osaretin Osadebamwen and Ochiaka Ugwu, Chairman and Secretary of Council respectively, it noted that council received the news of the death of the radio presenter at the early hours of today, Tuesday January 16, 2024 with rude shock.
It stated that the late Ms. Deborah Ohamara was not only a committed member of council, who never missed any opportunity to engage in council’s activities, but also one personality who was ready to render professional help to colleagues.
According to the statement, “The former Nigerian Info presenter would be remembered for her invaluable contributions to the growth of National discourse and passion for the dissemination of information which she achieved through her programmes.
“The entire members of NUJ FCT Council condole with the family of the ace broadcaster, whose presentations began a new approach to public engagement on critical issues of national importance and human development.
“We also condole with the management and staff of Nigerian Info and urge the entire members of NUJ, FCT Council to identify with their colleague in this moment of grief and, pray God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss” the statement concluded.
