President Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed insinuations that all is not well between him and APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
According to reports, the President denies rift with either Tinubu or the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The President reportedly described the rumours as unfounded and mischievous.
According to a statement by Malam Garba Shehu, the Presidential spokesman, Buhari was constantly in contact with Tinubu before, during and after the last Saturday’s Ondo governorship election.
He said reports that Buhari and APC machinery are working to destroy Tinubu is completely false.
Shehu noted that Tinubu had assured the President that he would not work against the APC in Ondo, and he honoured his words.
In his words: “President Buhari commended Tinubu’s spirit of comradeship in promptly congratulating Rotimi Akeredolu who was elected Governor.
“The President also noted that at a time his administration is preoccupied with governance issues, rumours of divisions and alleged scheming within the party are counterproductive to internal unity and cohesion in APC.”
He added that Buhari is proud of Tinubu and his immeasurable role in the party and the movement.
