The People’s Democratic Party in Bayelsa State has been thrown into mourning as the former Acting State Chairman of the Party, Mr. Christopher Hobobo, has been reportedly assassinated at his residence on the PDP Road, Yenagoa, the state capital.
Hobobo, an indigene of Agbere town in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state, was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown assassins in the early hours of Wednesday.
The assassination of Hobobo is coming barely one month after a similar assassination of a Yenagoa-based broadcast journalist, Mr. Famous Giobaro.
According to sources, gate to Hobobo’s house was forced open by the assailants before gaining access to his sitting room, where he was allegedly stabbed severally on the chest.
It was learnt that the killers made it a silent operation by not using gun in order not to attract the attention of his neighbors in the area.
A team of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer, Ekeki Division, was said to have removed the deceased’s corpse amidst wailing from Family members, sympathisers and neighbours.
Two family members, Mr. Desi Tambrebofa and Mr. John Gidi, who expressed shock over the manner Hobobo was brutally murdered described the deceased as an easygoing man.
Meanwhile the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amba Asuquo, who visited the scene assured the family members that the police would fish out the perpetrators of the crime.
The remains of Hobobo have been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.
