Justice David Oladimeji of the Federal High Court sitting in Ede, Osun State has ordered that the Former Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Anthony Elujoba, be remanded in Ilesha Prisons following the dismissal of his bail application.
Justice Oladimeji ruled that Mr. Elujoba who is standing trial on a seven-count charge of alleged corruption and abuse of office involving some N1.4 billion be remanded till July 19 when the case will be brought for hearing.
Meanwhile, staffs of the university who just ended its two days lecture free day on Tuesday see Mr. Elujoba’s trial alongside the bursar of the university, Josephine Akeredolu as “victimisation”.
The Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU OAU chapter who protested the decision of the court to send the embattled professor to prison locked down the court gate as the ruling was being handed on Tuesday.
Inside Sources gathered that no one was allowed to leave the premises of the court shortly after the ruling as the protesters demanded the judge withdraw his ruling, and authorize the former vice chancellor be kept in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
