Reports reaching Inside Sources from Kenya revealed that no fewer than 24 people have been killed in the post-election violence following the presidential vote, which opposition supporters claim was rigged in favour of the ruling party.
According to Human rights groups, the Kenya’s post-election violence worsened on Saturday when police used tear gas on a convoy of opposition officials in the capital and a mortuary official said nine bodies with gunshot wounds were brought to a Nairobi morgue from a slum that is an opposition stronghold.
Inside Sources gathered that so far 24 people including a nine year girl who was hit by a stray bullet has been reported dead since the protest started on Tuesday when the opposition party claimed that the incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta was rigged in by the electoral body to rule Kenya for the second term.
Kenyan police shot and killed two people during riots by opposition supporters on the outskirts of Kisumu, a city where opposition leader Raila Odinga has strong support, according to police. Another five people were injured by gunfire in Kisumu.
The Human Right Groups thereby called on the government stop the random killing of our people.
The Kenya government in defence said criminals are taking advantage of the tense election period to loot and destroy property.
