TENSION IN KOGI AS WORKERS REJECT HALF SALARY PAYMENT

Barely twenty four hours to the celebration of eid kabir, the kogi state workers are loggerhead with the kogi state government over payment of salaries.

According to gist coming from the government house in Lokoja the workers rejected governor Bello’s decision to pay 50 percent of July salary despite the sacrifices they had made in the last 19 months of his administration.

Inside Sources gathered that governor Bello in a meeting with the leaders of the Organized Labour said the fund available in purse of government could not pay the full salaries of the workers and that of the political appointees

However, the Wednesday meeting of the Nigerian Labour Congress and that of their Trade Union counterpart was said to have ended in serious tense both NLC and TUC leaders were asked to go back to the governor when the workers vehemently rejected the governor’s proposal of half salary payment few hours to eid kabir celebration.
