4-0 DEFEAT: WILL EAGLES MAINTAIN STATUS QUO?

Although the Super Eagles of Nigeria may have gotten the ticket to the Russia 2018 world cup but repeating the scene of the Godswill Akpabio in Uyo last Friday at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo Yaoundé today could be an added advantage for the Eagles who currently top the group’s table.

Even if Zambia win, Nigeria’s victory in today’s match would leave them needing to win all their remaining games and scoring more goals to overturn a wide gulf in goal difference in order to reel Gernot Rohr’s team in.

Nigeria has a number of options to choose from in this decisive encounter while Anthony Nwakaeme could make his first international appearance for Nigeria, the Super Eagles tend to stick to the starting line-up that silenced Cameroon 4-0 in the first leg, with a back four and a midfield anchored by captain John Obi Mikel, while Odion Ighalo is expected to lead the attack.
Potential starting XI are Ezenwa, Shehu, Troost-Ekong, Balogun, Echiejile, Onazi, Ndidi, Mikel, Moses, Simon, Ighalo

Although the Cameroonian Coach Hugo Broos has given up all hopes of taking the Indomitable Lions to Russia as a result of the 4-0 in Uyo, but he is likely to ring some changes in his team as he hopes for a decent home result.
Not minding the alterations, Fabrice Ondoa, Vincent Aboubakar and Christian Bassogog are expected to retain their places in the starting line-up.
Potential starting XI are Ondoa; Mabouka, Fai, Teikeu, Ngadeu; Anguissa, Siani, Djoum, Moukandjo, Bassogog; Aboubakar.
