The immediate past governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has officially declared his intention to vie for the national chairmanship seat of the People’s Democratic Party in the PDP December convention.
Daniel whose emergence as the Ogun state governor remains the biggest electoral victory in Ogun state officially made his intention known at an event held yesterday 18th of October at the congress hall, Transcorp Hilton Hotel in federal capital territory Abuja.
OGD as he is fondly called got the support of some of the big names in the party like Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the former governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido and the former Minister for information and Ijaw teacher, Chief Edwin Clark amongst others.
Speaking at the official declaration the PDP national chairman aspirant said one of his core project is to bring back into the fold many party men and women who have left for one reason or another.
Daniel in his words said “My ultimate goal is to work towards the victory of our party in the 2019 General election and in all other elections in between. To achieve this, I am prepared to work with all leaders of our party, various interest groups and individuals,”
The former governor further assured that under his chairmanship, PDP would not only find a new identity, but would reclaim its lost glory and salvage the ship of the Nigerian state.
Our party has lost many of its human political capital; it has lost many of its founding fathers, by consistently been overwhelmed by the struggle for leadership positions, not only in most states of the federation, but even at the National level of the party. But with the help of God and the leaders, PDP will return back to happy days if I’m elected as the national chairman Daniel said.
