11 CHILDREN CONFIRMED DEAD IN KANO OVER WHOOPING COUGH OUT BREAK

According to Vanguard news, not less than eleven children have been confirmed dead from whooping cough disease at Kankwana village in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State.

The information officer of the Kiru Local Government Malam Rabiu Khalil disclosed yesterday that aside the eleven children who are now dead, about forty other children affected by same whooping cough disease were said to be receiving treatment in hospitals.

The council health officer Malam Hassan Adamu while briefing newsmen on the development assured the public of government’s effort to contain the outbreak.

The world Health Organization (WHO) representative in the area Malam Yakubu Sani attributed the outbreak of the disease to poor immunization and inadequate health mobilization activities within the local government.
