FINDING VISIONARY LEADERS

By Sir Gabriel Otioma

I will begin by saying, progress of a nation is not accidental. No core country in the world today was able to rise above her troubles, challenges and political turmoil by accident, but through good plans and given opportunity to the skillful ones to take the lead.

It will interest you to know that Nigerian leaders only lead by tackling current challenges, but pay less attention to posterity and challenges that may occur in the future. Their style of governance is only for the now and less concern in the years ahead.

Nigerian leaders futuristic consciousness is mediocre and microscopic, and for this, the visionary thinkers in the country must be encouraged to come into politics and take the lead, else, the unborn generations will suffer more than what the present generation have suffered and suffering.

Politics is not a fun fare, it is not a place to show physical strength, the future of a country is tied to her political system, therefore, our political domain must be held in high esteem and seen as a system that accommodate only the intelligence and streetwise. A country needs revolutionary thinkers, those who can use their minds and brain to solve problems confronting humanity. Leaders are thinkers, not talkers.

Nigeria political system must be purged to reduce ill thinkers, vision-less and level of incompetency. Corruption and greed is not the only problem we are facing in Nigeria today; poor leadership skills and ill intelligence from the leaders cannot be excluded. After their loots, stealing, they still mismanage the little piece of cake they wish to give to the people because they lack ideas on how to channel it.

The penalty of not participating in politics is to be ruled by those who are inferior to you. Are you truly endowed with an idea or ideas on how to pilot the affairs of your community, local government, state and Nigeria at large? Get involved in politics, your country needs you.
