Head of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mohammed Babadede has received three hundred Cameroonian who registered as refugees after entering the country through the neighboring village of Nfum, a border town of the southern Cross River.
Babadede made this known in a meeting with the Cross River State Government yesterday that they are ready to ensure the safety of the refugees.
Babadede during the meeting said “we will respect human rights but won’t allow the migrants to spoil our security situation. We will treat them with dignity. The Cameroonian Government has done same for us during the Boko Haram crisis”.
According to him, they are prepared for the possible influx of about 40,000 refugees from Cameroon as estimated by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees as a result of the mass protest North West and South West region against marginalization by the Cameroonian government.
