About twenty six bodies of Nigerian teenage girls migrating to Europe through Libya have been recovered from the Mediterranean Sea by European Union anti-trafficking force.
According to the EU anti-trafficking team known as operation Sophia, the girls aging between 14 and 18 years were recovered by the Spanish ship Cantabria.
According to reports made available to Inside Sources, all the passengers drowned when the rubber boat carrying the migrants sank while crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
Investigations carried out to ascertain the cause of the incident by the Salerno prosecutors however reveals that sexual violence and rape played a significant role leading to the sinking boat as there were other men on board of the boat.
It was gathered that a total of 375 migrants were rescued from the boat with good numbers from sub-Saharan Africa, Gambia, Ghana, Libya, Nigeria, Sudan, and Senegal.
However, Inside Sources gathered that seven people including the captains of vessel have been detained by Italian police people in connection with the incident while two of the detainees were said to be of Libyan and Egyptian origin
