It was gathering of creme-de-la-creme in the Kwara state politics and Islamic setting as the Senate President Bukola Saraki organize the 2017 edition of the annual remembrance prayer for his late father Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki
Olusola Saraki, a graduate of the University of London, a consummate politician and former senate leader in the second republic from 1979-1983, was the national leader and member of the board of trustees of the All people’s party (APP) in 1998 but later decamped to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where Bukola Saraki ruled as two term governor of Kwara state.
The late Waziri of Ilorin died on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the age of 79 after a brief illness at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos state and was buried in his home town Ilorin, according to Islamic rites.
The special prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Dr. Muhammad Bashir Soliu (OON) had in attendance the Kwara state governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, Speaker of the state house of assembly, Hon. Ali Ahmad, senators and other political associates and loyalists of the Senate president.
The Senate President, who took to his twitter handle to eulogize his late father, said his memory remains a blessing to all the lives that he impacted during his life time.
Saraki on his official twitter handle @bukolasaraki said “Today makes it five years since you left us. Although the years may pass, we still celebrate the legacy of your greatness, goodness, and selflessness. Your memory remains a blessing to all the lives that you touched. Thank you Baba. We miss you.”
