All roads leading to the Mahmoud Attah street at the government residential area GRA Okene was on gridlock as the Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello officially opened his new state-of-the-art country home.
Dignitaries and crème-de-la-crème in the Kogi state including Abdul Rahman Ado Ibrahim, Ohinoyi of Ebira land, joined the governor during the house-warming ceremony.
A kogi state indigene who described the multi-million naira mansion as a thing of beauty said the governor could spend such amount of money at a period when Kogi state workers and pensioners are groaning under the burden of unpaid salaries running into months.
Residents of the GRA had at the early stage of the construction in august 2017 complained that the governor converted the street entrance to his private gate, but rather than pay attention to the residents, Governor Bello used his veto power as the state governor and carried on with the project.
In reaction to the residents’ complaints, the governor’s spokesperson Kingsley Fanwo, said his principal had made a better provision for the affected residents.
