Lagos monarch Oba Rilwan Akiolu has advised Nigerians to accept the new cost reflective electricity tariff so as to have effective and regular electricity supply.
Oba Akiolu gave this advice in Lagos at the book presentation and appreciation party in honor the Managing Director of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Mr. Oladele Amoda who will officially retire as EKEDC chief executive on December29.
The monarch in his words said distribution companies (DISCOs) should be allowed to charge what is good for them.
According to the Oba Akiolu the new tariff is the only way to enable the sector to be effective and efficient in the delivery of regular electricity supply to all and sundry.
The monarch while addressing guests at the event said if Nigerians want regular electricity supply, we should be ready to pay for it however, he accused electricity workers of involving in illegal connections and bypassing of prepaid meters
