The yuletide in the Canadian entertainment industry turned sour when the estate of the musical’s creators, Rodgers and Hammerstein announce the death of Sound of Music actress, Heather Menzies-Urich.
The Canada born actress who was diagnosed of brain cancer about a month ago gave up her ghost on Christmas Eve while surrounded by her family on her sick bed.
Urich was just 14 years old when she played the role of Louisa von Trapp in the 1964 classic movie died aged 68 her son Ryan disclosed.
The president of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Ted Chapin, when he paid tribute to the family said Urich was a cheerful and positive member of the group, always hoping for the next gathering. We are all lucky to have known her, and she will happily live on in that beautiful movie. We will miss her.
Urich death came barely two years after that of Charmian Carr who played the eldest von Trapp daughter died.
