The noise and public comment in favor of and against the Imo state governor Owele Rochas Okorocha for some time went a bit low until recently when another story pumped up in the news alleging that the APC governor was planning to name a street at heart of the state capital after president Muhammadu Buhari.
The latest controversy making waves after the creation of ministry of happiness and couple fulfilment which was later renamed to ministry of happiness and purpose fulfilment was the claim by youths in that state that the Owele Rochas Okorocha led government is planning to rename the popular Assumpta Avenue in Owerri, the state capital, as Muhammadu Buhari Road.
But meanwhile the governor through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, yesterday at the state capital in Owerri debunked the news adding that it is a misinformation from the opposition party whom he once described as enemies of the Imo rescue mission.
The governor’s media aid in the statement released states that President Muhammadu Buhari Road began from Government House Roundabout, Owerri and ends at Warehouse Roundabout.
Okorocha in the statement said the claim as spread by the opposition party was to create impression of misunderstanding between the Catholic faithful of the Assumpta Cathedral Owerri and the government.
The governor afterwards warns the mischief makers to desist from creating tension in the state because Imo state government was not in any war with the Catholic Church.
