Members of the Joint Military Taskforce attached to the people of Rumuji Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State has made a remarkable feat this Christmas in their quest to make sure the community is safe for the celebration of the yuletide.
The JTF taskforce yesterday gunned down three suspected criminals who had planned to carry out another terror barely after 24 hours when some set of criminals in military camouflage invaded two communities in Emohua local government area, attacked residents and went away with valuables worth several thousands of naira.
The information gathered by Inside Sources revealed that the suspects entered the military base in Rumuji community and tried to steal military uniforms which they meant to use for another operation.
A Senior Police Officer at the Rumuji Police Station who spoke under anonymity said while the JTF operatives in the base had gone out on patrol to the community square where traditional masquerades were having a display, the personnel watching over the camp noticed some strange movements of hoodlums and opened fire on them when he realized that some of them were trying to escape with some valuables including Army uniforms.
The incident created some sort of tension in the community as the Army immediately swung into action and laid siege at the motorcycle park at Rumuji-Ibaa Junction in search of alleged perpetrators of the crime leading to destruction of some motorcycles as the motorcycle operators fled abandoning their motorcycles at the junction on arrival of the military men.
