The main reason why some Nigerian entertainers ventured into politics in recent times might not really be to maintain their stardom or reposition the country whose image is speedily going from bad to worse in international communities especially in the era of change but for something unimaginable.
In the case of Anthony Olanrewaju Awotoye popularly known as Tony Tetuila, a member of the defunct musical group Remedies comprising of Tetuila himself, Eedris Abdulkareem and Eddy Montana who has been off the music scene for some time was to make more money for himself.
Tetuila who for couple of years now has not been seen doing anything music disclosed that he put his musical career on hold in order to venture into haulage business and politics.
Little did the Oro, Kwara state born rapper knew that being a celebrity does not guarantee smooth penetration into politics but will also set him back spectaculously as he still waits for Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state to fulfil his promise of giving him appointment after he contested for the Kwara State House of Assembly and lost at the party primary.
The singer who hails from the same town with a veteran Yoruba Actor Yinka Quadri was quoted few days ago in an interview with The punch said “I lost a lot of money which I cannot estimate but the experience that I got is immeasurable. The last time I saw Governor Ahmed, he told me that his administration still had two years. So, I believe that he would still do something. I have not recovered the money I lost when I ventured into politics but I am not crying over that because I am a man.”
But despite all he has been through in politics, Tetuila assured his fans and music lovers that his 11 years’ musical break is over as he is set to release an album by the end of January titled ‘This Girl’.
