The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bori, headquarter of Khana local government area in Rivers state of Nigeria has been reportedly set ablaze by source.
Source unveils that the incident started in the early hours of Friday, July 22. An eyewitness said nine days to the July 30 rerun election in River State can no longer be carry out because of substantial damaged by the fire.
The incident has also been confirmed by the spokesperson of the Rivers state police command, Omoni Nnamdi.
It will be recalled that INEC cancelled the election in the area on March 11 due to violence.
Meanwhile, the Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, July 21, cautioned Governor Nyesom Wike against threatening electoral officials ahead of the rerun elections in the state.
Governor Wike further accused the Professor Yakubu of concluding plans to postpone the July 30 rerun elections in deference to the fear of defeat expressed by the leadership of Rivers state APC.
INEC had insisted that it would only conduct the suspended rerun election If the leaders and supporters the political parties contesting the election were ready to eschew violence.
