Jibrin: Controversial lawmaker suspended, office sealed

[dropcap color=”#dd3333″ font=”georgia”]E[/dropcap]x-chairman of the House Appropriations committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has been suspended from the House of Reps for 180 legislative days.

Jibrin had become the subject of discourse after he accused the Speaker of the House of Reps, Yakubu Dogara and three other principal officers of the House of Representatives of “criminal insertions” into the 2016 budget.

The young and eloquent lawmaker has also called Dogara “corrupt” and a “shameless thief” in the past.

Jibrin had alleged that Dogara and others padded the 2016 budget to the tune of billions of naira.

In a ruling from the lower legislative chamber on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, Jibrin was banned from holding positions of authority for the rest of the eighth Assembly.

On Thursday, September 29, 2016, NASS sealed the office of the suspended APC lawmaker from Kano.
