One of the billionaires in the United States of America, Donald Trump has emerged the country’s 45th elected president against all expectations and permutations.
The astute businessman won the 2016 U.S. presidential election and was announced winner on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.
Trump won the electoral votes with 289, leaving Democratic Party’s challenger, Hillary Clinton, 71 votes behind. Clinton garnered 218 electoral votes.
Multiple reports say Clinton has telephoned Trump, conceding defeat and congratulating him for winning the election.
She also thanked her supporters for believing and standing by her.
The 45th elected President of the United States of America is a real estate developer who has never held any appointive or elective political office.
He announced his decision to seek the presidential ticket of the Republican Party in June 2015 and was dismissed by established politicians of his party and the Democratic Party as a non-starter partly because of the unorthodox and insulting comments he made about Mexicans, Muslims and other minorities.
