Nollywood stalwart Pete Edochie turned 70 today!
The Actor is one of Africa’s finest thespians. Born on March 7, 1947, Pete Edochie shot into limelight for his portrayal of Okonkwo in the NTA produced ‘Things Fall Apart‘.
Pete Edochie began a career in Broadcasting in 1967 when he was 20 years old. He was a Junior Programmes Assistant at the time. He would later become the Director of Programmes and also doubled as Deputy Managing Director.
With the explosion of the home video industry in the mid-90s, Pete Edochie became a mainstay in the Nollywood scene.
He has been involved in many Nigerian films, playing iconic roles.
His quips or wise sayings have also been used and abused by Social Media patrons in a variety of memes, thus adding his relevance to the pop culture landscape.
