CATHOLIC PRIEST RESCUED AFTER 2 DAYS IN THE FOREST

A Catholic Priest Rev. Father Charles Nwachukwu who was abducted by some gunmen has been rescued by the anti-kidnapping unit of the Imo State Police Command after spending two days in a forest in Imo State.

Sources in the Imo State Police revealed that the priest was abducted by the kidnappers last week, at Amauzari in the Isiala Mbano LGA of the state at arround 8pm.

The Imo State Commissioner of police Chris Ezike who confirmed the incident disclosed to newsmen on Tuesday that Rev. Nwachukwu was rescued in an Agbaja forest in the Nwangele Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

According to the Commissioner, Agbaja is where the late kidnap kingpin, Henry Chibueze, popularly known as Vampire, was moved to by his gang members in January after leaving the premises of  Imo High Court, Owerri; before he was finally gunned down during a gun duel with the police in Rivers State in February.

Ezike further said that the three suspected kidnappers Ogadinma Ajonuwma, Chinedu Odoemenam and Uzoma Mejuru were also arrested by the Police and the Toyota jeep, golden colour with registration number, WER 334 NJ belonging to the Priest was also recovered by the police.
