Information reaching Inside Sources now disclosed that the Australian High Commission is calling on Nigerians to apply for its small grants under the direct aid program DAP
According to sources, the direct aid is a flexible small grant aimed at supporting small-scale sustainable development projects and activities that are participatory in nature and, preferably, which actively engage the beneficiaries in the design, development, and implementation of the project.
Inside Sources gathered that the sum of 60,000 Australian dollars based on the exchange rate at the time of funding will be given to eligible individual and entrepreneurs in education, agriculture promotion of human rights, governance, health, water and sanitation, and environment and conservation.
Sources close to the Abuja bureau of the commission confirmed that Special attention will be given to activities that address gender equality and women’s empowerment or focus on the needs of people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
In the briefs made available to Inside Sources consideration can also be given to projects which focus on the preservation of culture or sporting activities with clear development links.
DAP funding is also available to community groups, reputable local, international organizations, private sector entities, academic institutions, research bodies, libraries, museums, or other organizations who engaged in development activities on a not-for-profit basis.
