Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Ogun state chapter of the National Association of Taxi and cab operators (NATCO), has pledged its support for the Engineer Adebayo Adedayo-led executive of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state.
The Taxi drivers association made this known in an event yesterday in Ijebu Igbo through their state chairman Mr. Sanusi Abdulgafar while commending the efforts of the Senator representing Ogun East senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu for his open-mindedness and for regularly assisting the cause of the downtrodden through his Omoilu Foundation, describing the lawmaker as a selfless leader and a true friend of the masses.
Abdulgafar in his speech said “we are not partnering with PDP because of our selfish gains, we are here because of our children, we are here because of the people of Ogun State, we are partnering with this party because we want a better Ogun State.”
According to Abdulgafar, defeating All Progressives Congress, Dapo Abiodun at a time the People’s Democratic Party performed woefully in the entire Southwest is a clear manifestation Senator Kashamu’s popularity among his people and a victory for the masses.
Speaking further Adbulgafar said “What we need in Ogun State at the moment is a leader that will serve the people and not a leader that we are going to serve with our hard-earned peanuts, most of our politicians are only interested in their personal gains, we must get it right in 2019. We are not just mere taxi drivers, most of us are graduates, we are in this business because of the economic situation of Ogun State. We are impressed with what Senator Kashamu has done at the Senate so far, I was listening to Sweet FM few days ago and I was surprised to hear that he has 5 bills that are at various stages at the National Assembly, he is one of the few lawmakers with the highest bills at the 8th National Assembly”.
The coordinator of Omoilu Foundation, Mr. Leke Shittu who welcomes them into the party on behalf of the state chairman thanked them for their brave decision and assured them of level playing ground in PDP.
