The State Security Service (SSS), yesterday confirmed the arrest of Husseini Maitangaran one of the top commanders of the Islamic State of West Africa (ISWA), popularly known as Boko Haram.
According to a statement credited to an SSS spokesman, Tony Opuiyo the service also arrest other top member of the Boko Haram terrorists, who were part of the foiled plan to disrupt the last Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Niger, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states.
According to information made available to Inside Sources, Maitangaran who has spear headed several attacks in Kano since 2012 planned gun attacks and suicide bombing on selected areas in the in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Niger, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states during Eid-el-Kabir celebration between September 1 through 4.
Maitangaran, Inside Sources gathered has been on the SSS and the Nigerian Army wanted list since 2012 when he coordinated the attacks on the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone I on January 20, 2012, and other public places in Kano.
