- Report reaching us from Umuahia, the Abia State capital was that of civil unrest as there is tension in the state capital following the shooting of three people on the very popular Akanu Ibiam Road at the early hours of Thursday.
Sources in the area disclosed that the Akanu Ibiam Road also known as Bank Road was engulfed with tension at around 9:30 am this morning when some military men opened fire on civilian putting on black and red color.
An eye witness account disclosed that the people were shot close to the Diamond Bank near the Abia State Government House gate.
According to the witness, two of them died instantly while the third was fatally injured as the soldiers who shoot them also took the corpse and the injured away in their truck.
The incident according to sources sent panic to residents as shop owners quickly locked their shops, commercial transporters also had to park their vehicles leaving passengers stranded.
