Doctors at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia have warned that having tattoo on any part of the body can cause serious skin infection after about 15 years.
The Australian Doctors discovered this after a woman suffering from enlarged lymph nodes was admitted to the hospital.
According to Sources, the 30-year-old Australian woman went to the hospital when she had feeling of cancer after noticing painful lumps in her armpit.
The Doctors however, after removing the tissue, which was found to be harmless concluded that the lumps were caused by a reaction to tattooing which had been done on her 15 years ago.
In a recent study, published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine, research claimed that for some time that tattoo ink travels to the lymph nodes which are used by the body to clear out toxins in the body the nodes can change to the same color of the ink.
Another study shows that the effect can still happen more than a decade after a person gets a tattoo. Recent research by the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility found that toxic nanoparticles of titanium dioxide found in tattoo ink can travel through the body and become lodged in the lymph nodes where they can cause problems.
