The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) has joined his voice with that of president Muhammadu Buhari asking the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to strike out all suits seeking the removal of Ibrahim Magu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Both parties in a preliminary objection challenging the competence of a suit seeking Magu’s removal from office said the court cannot invoke its judicial powers under Section 6(6)(b) (of the Constitution) to hear and determine the case.
According to Sahara Reporters, aside the rejection of the Senate to confirm Magu as the substantial chairman of the commission there are other 17 suits filed against Magu’s appointment, as the chairman of the economic and financial crimes commission.
One of the case was said to be pending before the Yola Division of the Federal High Court, another in the Kano Division, while others which are pending before the Abuja Division of the court was said to have suffered same treatment from Mr President.
