NIGERIA, CAMEROON BORDER COMMUNAL CLASH: 2 DEAD, 6 IN CRITICAL CONDITION

Communal clash over land dispute between Danare community in Nokia Local Government of Cross River state and neighboring communities in the Republic of Cameroon has left two dead and several others with various degrees of injuries.

Sources in the community disclosed that some Cameroonian Jandarme from Bodam community encroached into Nigeria’s territory through Danare to cause havoc on the people over a land dispute which led to the death of two Nigerians while six others were said to be in critical condition with bullet injuries.

Governor Ben Ayade in order to broker peace and de-escalate tension between the waring communities over the weekend sent a high-powered delegation led by the State Security Adviser, Mr Jude Ngaji and the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa to meet with the leaders and youths of the community.

Ngaji Speaking at the meeting urged the Nigerian side to keep the peace and not react to the provocation of the Cameroonians, while assuring them that the governor Ayade led government of the Cross River state will seek the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari on the matter as it involves a foreign country.
