FAMILIES OF SLAIN POLICE OFFICERS GETS #700,000 EACH IN CALABAR

The Ben Ayade led government of Cross River State has donated two million naira to the families of the slain policemen killed during a clash between the Nigerian police and the Nigerian Navy in the state.

The governor also extends his magnanimity to another victim of the clash who lost his eye during the clash.

The official handing over of the money to the beneficiaries was done by the Cross River Commissioner of Police Mr. Hafiz Inuwa, on behalf of the state government on Wednesday at the state’s CID in Calabar, the state capital.

According to Inuwa the two women who lost their husbands gets N 700,000 each while the Police officer who lost his sight gets N 600,000.

It was gathered that a disagreement between Police and Naval officers on May 30 degenerated into a deadly clash between police traffic officers and Navy men at a checkpoint opposite the Navy Barracks in Akim area of Calabar the state capital resulted into a deadly clash leading to the death of two policemen.
