AMERICAN WOMAN RISK 20 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CALLING MUGABE A SICK MAN

An American citizen identified as Martha O’Donovan, was on Saturday paraded at a Zimbabwe court over her twitter post allegedly describing the country’s president Robert Mugabe as a sick man.

The defense lawyer Rose Hanzi during the Saturday sitting told the court that the arrest was illegal because police did not have the detail for O’Donovan’s arrest when she was taken from her Harare home at the early hours of Friday.

According to Fox News, the arresting officer is also being questioned in court while O’Donovan is accused of calling the 93-year-old President Robert Mugabe a sick man in a Twitter post that included a photo illustration of the president with a catheter.

O’Donovan who was charged for undermining the authority of or insulting the president risk up to 20 years in prison if found guilty of the charge against her.
