The Lawan Ado led Kwara State Police Command has laid embargo on Vehicular movement for Saturday November 18, 2017 in every part as the state of harmony goes into the poll to elect local government chairmen into the 16 local government areas in the state.
The Kwara state Commissioner of Police in a chat with newsmen in Ilorin the state capital said the no movement restriction during the local government chairmen and councillorship election in the state would be enforced between 8am through 3pm when the election runs.
Ado while speaking on the police preparedness towards the Saturday election said over 4000 police officers have been deployed to different strategic locations across the state to maintain law and order on the Election Day.
According to the police commissioner, officers from Osun, Ogun, and Oyo have been deployed to assist their Kwara state counterparts for smooth monitoring of the election.
The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed,who during the Kwara State Security Committee Meeting on Thursday reassured residents of the state of their safety during and after Saturday’s local government elections said, having received reports from the security agencies of their readiness to provide security before, during and after the elections, he is confident that the elections will be held in a peaceful and orderly atmosphere.
Governor Ahmed in a statement by his senior special assistant on media and communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, urged all eligible voters to come out on Saturday to exercise their civic responsibility without fear of violence or molestation and to be orderly and calm while casting their votes.
