There seems to be wild jubilations in Zimbabwe yesterday 18 November 2017 after a report broke out that some lawmakers are making plans to remove the country’s long serving president, Robert Mugabe.
According to the Zimbabwe Newsday reports a member of the opposition parliament Movement for Democratic Change, James Maridadi, is set to raise the motion during lawmakers Tuesday sitting which would call for the outright impeachment of the president.
Sources disclosed since the speaker had been informed about the move, it is likely that member of the Mugabe’s ZANU-PF may also support the impeachment in order to pave way for a new president.
The impeachment move was as a result of mass protests held by Zimbabweans calling for the removal of the 93 years old president who refused to leave office despite the military’s action penultimate week.
Mugabe who had earlier vowed to remain in power until his death was however pushed aside by the military in an attempt to install his wife Grace Mugabe as president after the sacking of the country’s vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa, some weeks ago over terrorism allegation.
