The gubernatorial running mate to Oseloka Obaze of the People’s Democratic Party Mrs. Alexandria Chidi Onyemelukwe few hours after losing the deputy governorship position of Anambra again lost her father Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme,Nigeria’s former Vice President.
The family of the late politician made this known in a statement signed by the deceased younger brother Igwe Laz Ekwueme the traditional ruler of Oko community in Anambra State that the elder statesman gave up the ghost around 10:00 pm in a London clinic, on Sunday.
The traditional ruler in the statement said “Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON.
The late vice president it was gathered collapsed penultimate week at his Enugu resident and was rushed to the Memfys Neurosurgery Hospital Enugu where he was reported to have gone into coma before he was later flown abroad for treatment before he was pronounced dead on Sunday night.
