Zimbabwe’s controversial president Robert Mugabe has intensified his plans to remain in power and also as the leader of his Zanu PF party despite the pressures on him to leave the office after 37 years in power.
The 93 year old politician made this known in a television broadcast that he is going to preside over his party congress which is scheduled to come up in few weeks’ time, following the ruling party’s Sunday meeting where Mugabe was allegedly sacked after been the party leader since 1980.
The leaders of the ruling Zanu PF party during the Sunday meeting appointed the ex-vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was fired by Mr. Mugabe as the new leader of the party after expelling Mugabe’s 52-year-old wife, Grace Mugabe , alongside some other senior officials.
