Pensioners in Ejigbo local government of Osun state has taken to the street for protest following the incident of a retired headmaster who committed suicide as a result of his inability to fend for his family due to non-payment of his gratuity.
The deceased identified as Lukman Odewole, according to sources was said to have hanged himself to death on Wednesday November 22 as he could not afford the hospital treatment of his wife and a child that both fell ill at the same time.
Odewole’s death sources hinted sparked up anger among pensioners in the state who hit the street in protest of non-payment of their pensions for more than 13 months now.
The protesters who carried placards with various inscriptions slammed the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola led government of Osun state, marched to the popular Olaiya Junction where they addressed journalists.
