A federal high court sitting in Abuja has ruled that Senator Obiora Okonkwo of the People’s Democratic Party PDP should be returned as the senator representing the Anambra Central Senatorial District with immediate effect.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed January 13 for election re-run that would see a new senator to occupy the seat but the Justice John Tsoho’s Wednesday ruling ordered that Okonkwo be returned after counsel to other parties in the matter withdrew their arguments against the plaintiff.
According to the judge he was inclined to grant the request sort by the plaintiff because all the defendants indicated that they had no objection to the suit.
