The management of MultiChoice operators DSTV and GOTV has launched a full scale investigation into the case of one of its staffs identified as Gabisele Ngcobo who recently accused a senior colleague of rape.
The South African based broadcast company move into swift action following the hashtag #OccupyMultiChoice with the name of the victim and that of one of the alleged rapist which is massively gaining weight on social media.
The management in a statement released recently noted with grave concern very serious allegations said the incident occurred in 2014 and that a case had been opened with the police, which led to the conviction of one of the accused.
A top representative of MultiChoice who spoke under a protected name said the company has provided this employee with support since this traumatic incident and will continue to do so. said a company representative who did not wish to be identified.
Despite the staff whose name was mentioned in the hashtag has since denied the allegation but it was gathered that a protest was scheduled to hold soon at the company’s headquarters in Bram Fischer Drive in Randburg, Johannesburg and other locations in South Africa.
The company’s spokesman while commenting on the allegation said “the employee reported an incident to us in 2014 in which she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted. No allegation of the involvement of co-employees was made at that time. We recently learned of these further allegations involving our employees, which is why we’ve launched an immediate and a full-scale investigation to get to the bottom of this matter, because we take these allegations very seriously.
