The Indian Police has confirmed the death of 12 people in a fire outbreak in a snacks wholesale shop in Mumbai, the India’s financial hub at the early hours of Monday.
According to Suresh Wagle, a local police officer 12 employees of a shop that deals in sales of farsan, sweet and savoury snacks, in the Sakinaka area of Mumbai were burnt to death after been trapped in the fire that broke out early Monday while four others who sustained various degrees of burnt were said to be receiving medical attention in the hospital.
A Mumbai Fire Brigade officer PS Rahangdale while speaking to Hindu newspaper said “the fire started at the ground floor level and the people inside were sleeping in the loft. They got trapped in the 60 feet by 30 feet structure about nine by 18 metres due to the intense heat and smoke and the loft subsequently collapsed,”
Inside Sources authoritatively gathered that the charred bodies of the dead ones were found later in the morning while officials were sifting through the debris after cooling operations were completed.
Causes of the fire is yet to be ascertained as at the time of filling this report but the Police in the area are still investigating the cause of the inferno as the process of identifying them was on.
