After so many antagonisms by the opposition party, the Liberian presidential election run-off has proved for the second time that the former Liberian football George Weah was the authentic and democratically elected president of the west African country, Liberia.
The 51-year-old former Ballon d’Or winner had in the preliminary election held penultimate month being declared the winner of the poll, but some issues which came up thereafter necessitated for the run-off which later confirmed him as the president elect.
The just concluded Liberian presidential election run-off makes Weah the 25th President of Liberia after defeating his closest rival and the incumbent vice president Joseph Boakai in the contest.
The ex-Liberian international footballer who in some time during his football career also featured for the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Chelsea and Manchester City and later returned to France with Marseille will now succeed President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf when her tenure expires as the President.
