The traditional rulership tussle currently going on in the ancient city of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital may soon be put to rest as the Oyo State High Court at Ibadan will come February 12 2018 give judgement to the suit filed by Chief Adebayo Oyediji challenging the installation of Oba Saliu Adetunji, as the Olubadan of Ibadan land.
Oyediji who is a member of the Seriki chieftaincy lineage in company of Chief Olalekan Fakunle, Chief Rasheed Abinupagun and Chief Gabriel Amao had approached to court to challenge the Oyo state Governor Abiola Ajimobi on the installation of Oba Saliu Adetunji, as the Olubadan of Ibadan land.
After both parties had filled all necessary documents needed for the prosecution, the court under Justice Moshood Abass ruling on Wednesday fixed February 12 for the hearing of the Ibadan traditional rulership crisis which has been lingering among the royal families of Ibadan for some time now, Sarafadeen Adebayo counsel to the claimant disclosed.
The Seriki’s had claimed that it was the turn of the Seriki Royal Family to produce the next Olubadan after the demise of the former Olubadan of Ibadan land Oba Samuel Lana but the Oyo state government appointed Adetunji instead.
