With 2019 in view, many are clamouring for change. Our governors, representatives at the senate and federal house of representatives aren’t off the count. It’s yet another time for the citizens to decide on a true representation or trade their birthright for some naira which would only last for few days as the case maybe…
Indeed, as Nigerians, while we aspire for a better nation, we always make reference to the developed countries like France, USA to mention but a few. But then, what have been put in place to attain that height?
What are the challenges really facing our nation? Does it stem from religion, ethnicity, political zones, corruption or marginalization? Why has our nation been dwarfed such that it’s quite ironical to refer her as the “Giant of Africa”
While the authority in charge of the power distribution continues to change its name from NEPA to PHCN to EEDC or PHDC as the case may be with reference to geographical locations, can we boast of 18 hours uninterrupted power supply? What was that recount about kanji dam?
It has always been betrayals/snitch, sentimental/lopsided judgement, propaganda, political clashes and power tussles with virtually all possessed arsenals. What unity has been fostered? Times are very hard such that the rate of suicidal mission is on the increase with each passing day owing to frustration and desperation.
What can we say about the word “corruption”? Does it play out in every sphere and sector? Could it be curbed to its barest minimum of existence? The corrupt fellows would scream out the word while appearing holier than thou! They enrich themselves through the endowed portfolio bestowed on them by the masses in lieu of true representation. Talk about taxation, what effect with regards to developments have been seen or felt?
Should we buttress on our educational sector, how well has it been? The policy and exorbitant tuition fees leaves one wondering if education is still valued whereas in some countries like Sweden, the government pleads and places her high school students on payroll just to entice them go to school. Is the law still made by man for or against man?
Does health sector truly exists in our country else one imagine why the men of timber and caliber would always been flown abroad on any health issues…
The rate of unemployment among our youths (the supposedly future leaders) has become an accepted anomaly. Many youths (Graduates inclusive) are still dependent on their respective families for daily survival. Should it be so?
Many may argue that every country is faced with one challenge or the other but then, which have we strived for? The gruesome murder of innocent citizens is still very fresh in our memory but here we are, with our representatives dwelling on creation of landmass for grazing colony. Can one equate human lives with cows?
Certainly, there are great leaders in this country with enough vision to effectively mount that saddle. Who tops the list? Who amongst the prospective aspirants is detribalistic and not a fanatic? Any we could relish his political antecedents? Who could steer our nation to the envisaged enviable zenith?
Can we doubt or relegate the power of incumbency? There’s a clear and distinct difference between politics played in Nigeria and that of British. Ignore the power of incumbency and zoning at your peril.
Who has that strength of character to inspire that real change? Who is that Titan who doesn’t care whose ox is gored as long as the focal is on the positive trajectory and narrative? Who can make our country Nigeria better with our maximum and unflinching support? Our quest in search of a proponent for good governance continues……
