2023 Presidency: APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu, May Pick Yakubu Dogara, Who Is A Northern Christian, As His Running Mate

fFormer Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara’s sudden defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Friday, July 24, took many Nigerians by surprise.

Dogara’s defection to APC may be connected to Presi­dent Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war and 2023 Presidential election, many have speculated, as he has not officially spoken since his defection.

Reacting to the develop­ment, the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, said that the APC may have lured Dog­ara into its fold, to serve as a running mate to Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 Presidential election.

The CUPP, in a statement by its Spokesman, Ikenga Imo Ugo­chinyere, said: “I hope they have not used the propaganda of Northern Christian VP to Tinubu, to lure my very good friend to the APC party, that might not survive the upcom­ing intra-party 2023 crisis.

“PDP Governor of Bauchi treated Dogara bad and side­lined him, despite the game-changer vote from Dogara’s Tafa Balewa Federal Constitu­ency, but joining the fractured APC with a weak Leader, who is already losing respect among his party men, may hang his political survival in the balance. We will be watch­ing how all these play out.”
