Mere words fail to describe the sparks of joy that electrified the air as ace BROADCAST and veteran, Evelyn Onyilo celebrates her Diamond Jubilee in style.
The gripping and captivating fanfare could be felt miles away from the AGNL event center venue of the celebration as the very best of the media profession as well as fellow humanitarians of the Rotary club amongst many others trooped in great numbers to celebrate with a beaming Onyilo.
Glowing words flowed in tons for the woman of style that was described by many as love personified. The merriment was so nostalgic that other patrons at the garden couldn’t help but feed their curiousities.
Famous ace broadcasts like Moji Makanjuola, Ene, Ayo Adewuyi all of the NTA family as the celebrator herself, graced the occasion highlighting the pedestal and pedigree of the event. Others at the occasion include the president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chris Isiguzo, Chairman, NUJ FCT council, Emmanuel Ogbeche, Past and present Presidents of NAWOJ, members and leaders of various humanitarian organizations and many high grade practitioners of the media profession.
Speaking in glowing terms, many described Evelyn Onyilo as motivator, achiever, mother, loving, caring and generally a rarity in humanity. The atmosphere was evident to their testimonies as love could practically be grabbed in the air.
Evelyn Onyilo was a leading broadcaster with the Nigerian Television Authority until her retirement. A Rotarian per excellence, she had been instrumental to the establishment of many humanitarian feats earning her the love of many who consider her a mother. She is a past assistant governor in the Rotary Club of Nigeria, a past Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, to mention just a few.
She turned 60 years while still looking “fortyish” and celebrated amongst family, friends and well wishers, key amongst whom was her believed “twin” of different parentage, Amos Duniya who also celebrated his own 60th on the same day but had to grace the occasion with many of his own well-wishers and guests.
Guests at the event were treated to tantalizing music and sumptuous meals as the celebrations continued till late night.
